All portfolio documentation must be submitted as .pdf to eliminate software issues. 3. Presentation: The student will participate in a 4 to 5 minute presentation. Elements of the presentation should include: a. General information (Individual’s name, school, and title of project). b. Discuss elements of the portfolio (concept, material, design and manufacture). c. Inspiration for project design. d. Details of processes and workmanship in the sculpture. 4. Question and Answer Session: After each presentation the individual will be asked questions from the judges. Questions will be about the sculpture, presentation, materials, processes and workmanship. Observers: Observers will be allowed to view the sculptures at the conclusion of the competition. Talking to judges will not be permitted. All communications are to be directed to the series director only and only at the end of the contest. Contestants are to stay until they are debriefed at the end. Any communication from observers will result in contestant disqualification. No videotaping of contests. (Still photography only) For National Competition: 1. On-site welding demonstration is part of National Competition On-site welding demonstration is part of National Competition - Students will be required to set up and operate machines to appropriately weld/cut in any of the following processes: GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, PAC, OFC. 2. Note: during the live welding component, students must wear leather work boots or equivalent. PPE (safety glasses, welding gloves, welding jackets and welding helmets) will be provided for this demo competition. However, students are welcome to bring their own PPE.
