Contestants must submit an electronic copy of their resumé to the LMS LMS by April 22, by 5:00pm. Contestants are judged on the overall appearance of the finished product, speed, and proper safety practices. Contestants will be required to remain in their testing area until judges direct them to their next assigned contest area. 1. Metalworking, 200 pts. (Have a fender with E coat only/no paint). One dent to be worked out without the use of filler, one dent to be repaired using only body filler. Prepare panel (fender) for primer. Judge is looking for: Safety, proper use of tools, metal straightening, use of filler material, techniques and overall final appearance. 2. Frame Analysis, 200 pts. The following gauges may be used: Tram and Self Centering gauges. Judge is looking for: Safety, steering geometry and alignment, use of frame/body manuals, body measurements, describe damage on paper, draw out what you see. 3. MIG Welding, 200 pts. Plug weld, stitch weld, continuous weld (vertical weld and flat weld). Welders that will most likely be used are Miller’s 175 and 160”s with .23 wire. Judge is looking for: Safety, good penetration of weld, proper set up of and tuning of the machine. 4. ASE Exam, 100pts 25-question ASE style exam, The questions on the test are based on collision repair theory and estimating concepts along with math-related questions. 5. Job Interview, 100pts (with portfolio and resume) Judge is looking for: The ability to communicate with the judge, good eye contact, fill out a job application legibly and completely.
