Contestants must submit an electronic copy of their resumé to the LMS LMS by April 22, by 5:00pm. Please refer to the SkillsUSA National Technical Standards for additional information. Clothing Requirements: avoid a clothing penalty SkillsUSA attire: - Red SkillsUSA blazer, windbreaker or sweater, or black or red SkillsUSA jacket. - Button-up, collared, white dress shirt (accompanied by a plain, solid black tie), white blouse (collarless or small collard) or white turtleneck, with any collar to not extend to the lapel area of the blazer, sweater, windbreaker or jacket. - Black dress slacks or black dress skirt (knee-length) Wearing socks or hose is no longer required. If worn, socks must be black dress socks and hose must be either black or skin-tone and seamless/non pattern. - Black dress shoes or Professional Business Attire NO cell phones or SmartWatches allowed Tool Requirements: Contestants must submit online a one-page type-written resume, failure to do so will result in a penalty Each Team is responsible to arrive with the required supplies: Thick Black markers, pencils, calculator, 75 sheets of white paper, and 30 sheets of colored paper for scrap. Any team that does not have the required supplies will not be allowed to participate in the contest. State Skills: The state contest will reflect the standards adopted by the National Technical Committee. Scope of Contest information reads: Core standards from the National Health Care Core Skill Standard Project make up the categories from which Questions are developed for the Health Knowledge Bowl contest. Standards and Competencies: The categories from which questions will be developed have been clarified in the technical standards for 2024. Please read. The content of the contest is under Standards and Competencies. Included in the BOWL 3.0 Standard is the Current Event topic. There will be four Current Event questions (2 per Half). Questions will be chosen from the HEALTH SECTION of the USA TODAY newspaper, dated from December 1, 2023 to April 1, 2024. Judges: Will follow the scoring standards listed below. For new advisors there are sample questions on the National SkillsUSA Championships “Contest Projects” available on our website. Resource Text Books: The only references used for determining the questions are: USA TODAY (NEWSPAPER); DIVERSIFIED HEALTH OCCUPA- TIONS; HEALTH CAREERS TODAY; AND HEALTH CARE SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY; CAREER FOUNDATIONS (CURRENT EDITION TEXTBOOKS). For the State Contest, the postsecondary teams’ questions will be the same questions as the secondary teams’ questions. Although both secondary and post-secondary teams are completing simultaneously at the state level, please remember that there is one national slot for each education level. There will be a point deduction of 5 points for each team member that does not submit a resumé. This point deduction will be taken off the total final score. Carefully Review the SCORING section of the New Technical Standards (see below): Please be aware of the game rule that requires each team to identify a “captain”. The captain will be the team member who stands with the team’s answer. Judges: We will follow the national contest standard: 3 to 4 impartial judges will be utilized.
