Contestants must submit an electronic copy of their resumé to the LMS LMS by April 22, by 5:00pm. Employability tests will be in the LMS LMS and the deadline for completion is April 22, by 5:00pm. A PDF file of the Notebook must be emailed to [email protected][email protected] on or before April 1. Clothing Requirements: avoid a clothing penalty SkillsUSA attire: - Red SkillsUSA blazer, windbreaker or sweater, or black or red SkillsUSA jacket. - Button-up, collared, white dress shirt (accompanied by a plain, solid black tie), white blouse (collarless or small collard) or white turtleneck, with any collar to not extend to the lapel area of the blazer, sweater, windbreaker or jacket. - Black dress slacks or black dress skirt (knee-length) Wearing socks or hose is no longer required. If worn, socks must be black dress socks and hose must be either black or skin-tone and seamless/non pattern. - Black dress shoes NO cell phones or SmartWatches allowed Tool Requirements: Contestants must submit online a one-page type-written resume, failure to do so will result in a 50-point penalty 1. Notebook, a digital version submitted ahead of competition and the original brought to competition Skill Performance: The contest evaluates local chapter activities for community service, citizenship projects and those projects with patriotic overtones that demonstrate a belief in the American way of life. Eligibility (Team of 3): Open to all active SkillsUSA members. Each state may send one high-school and one college/postsecondary entry. Observer Rule: There will be no observers allowed to watch contestants compete. Contest Guidelines: 1. Deadline: The entry must be received in electronic PDF format by April 1. Notebooks are to be emailed to [email protected][email protected] listing American Spirit Award as the Subject of the email. Teams should know that the final version of the notebook to be presented to the judges, will be allowed to contain updates or a slight expansion. 2. Interview: Interview time will be assigned in advance. 3. Contestants will turn in completed notebooks to the Event Manager by 9: 00AM in the interview room. (which may include updates or a slight expansion of the emailed version). Submitted entries must be typed and submitted in an official three-ring SkillsUSA binder or scrapbook. The binder/scrapbook will contain no more than 75 sheets of paper the size of the official SkillsUSA binder/scrapbook paper. Both surfaces of the 75 sheets may be filled, for a maximum of 150 surfaces. Penalty: Five points per surface (10 points per sheet of paper) will be deducted for exceeding these maximums. No complete names should be used anywhere in the notebook — first or last names only.
