Hair Cutting - Men Short Cut and Design on Jake Budget Manikin #658, 45 minutes - 200 possible points a. Duplicate a predetermined haircut and design that has been selected by the judges at the event. Students may use shears, razor, clippers, and thinning shears as needed. b. Duplicate the finish design using a blow dryer, and thermal tools as needed. c. Use appropriate styling products, tools to duplicate the selected haircut. 6. Mock Phone Call - 15 minutes - 100 possible points During the competition, contestants will participate in a mock phone call, booking a client in their salon. A blank notepad will be supplied by the Technical Committee. The mock phone call must cover the following points: a. Identify the salon by name g. Ask client if they need directions to the salon b. Introduce yourself to client h. Verify date and time of haircut appointment c. Ask for clients first and last name i. Ask client if they have any questions d. Use client’s name during call j. Thank the client for calling e. Ask for client’s phone number k. Use a pleasant voice; be friendly, helpful and sincere f. Offer additional salon services or special services Observers: Observers will be allowed to view the students during the competition from the designated area only. Any infraction will result in contestant disqualification. Talking or gesturing by the observers may result in contestant disqualification. Observers will not be permitted to communicate with contestants in the holding/assembly area. Talking to judges will not be permitted. All communications are to be directed to the series director only and only at the end of the contest. Contestants are to stay until they are debriefed at the end. Any communication from observers will result in contestant disqualification. No prints or information will be allowed to leave with the student participants/school personnel.
