SkillsUSA | Advisor Guide 79 CHAPTER EXCELLENCE PROGRAM BUILDING EXCELLENCE THROUGH YOUR CHAPTER The Chapter Excellence Program (CEP) recognizes chapters that bring the SkillsUSA Framework to life through meaningful activities and an effective Program of Work. It gives members opportunities to develop and demonstrate personal, workplace, and technical skills while strengthening the overall chapter experience. BUILDING CHAPTER EXCELLENCE Chapter excellence develops through the work your members do throughout the year. A strong Program of Work gives students opportunities to plan, lead, collaborate, solve problems, and reflect on what they have learned. As activities are completed, help members recognize how their experiences connect to the SkillsUSA Framework and contribute to the growth of the chapter. WHY CHAPTER EXCELLENCE MATTERS Participation in the Chapter Excellence Program helps chapters: • Develop skills valued and demanded by industry • Connect chapter activities to the SkillsUSA Framework • Give students meaningful leadership opportunities • Help members recognize and communicate what they are learning • Evaluate chapter activities and identify areas for growth • Celebrate chapter accomplishments and member development MAKE CEP PART OF YOUR YEAR Chapter Excellence should not be something your chapter thinks about only at the end of the year. Build it into the way members plan, carry out, and evaluate chapter activities. WHAT CHAPTER EXCELLENCE LOOKS LIKE Strong chapters demonstrate excellence through the way members participate, develop skills, and contribute to meaningful chapter experiences. STUDENT OWNERSHIP Members take active roles in chapter decisions, activities, projects, and leadership. FRAMEWORK DEVELOPMENT Chapter experiences intentionally strengthen Personal Skills, Workplace Skills, and Technical Skills Grounded in Academics. MEANINGFUL ACTIVITIES Program of Work activities have a clear purpose and provide members with opportunities to learn, serve, lead, and grow. MEASURABLE RESULTS Chapters identify what they hope to accomplish and evaluate the results of their work. MEMBER REFLECTION Students recognize what they learned, how they contributed, and how their skills developed through the experience. CHAPTER GROWTH Each activity helps the chapter identify strengths, improve future efforts, and build a stronger member experience. Keep chapter records throughout the year rather than trying to recreate everything later. Save meeting minutes, Program of Work materials, photos, promotional pieces, results, member reflections, and other documentation that helps tell the story of your chapter. CEP DEADLINES Submit proper paperwork to the State Office by March 12 Chapter excellence is built over time—through meaningful experiences, student leadership, reflection, and continuous growth.
