56 SkillsUSA Massachusetts, Inc. Post-Secondary Division Constitution ARTICLE I - NAME Section 1 - The official name of this organization shall be “SkillsUSA Massachusetts, Inc.” Post-Secondary Division, also referred to as the SkillsUSA Massachusetts, Inc., Post-Secondary Division. ARTICLE II - PURPOSES Section 1 - The purposes of this organization are: To unite in a common bond without regard to race, sex, religion, creed, national origin or disabilities, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, post-secondary students enrolled in college, career and technical education, skilled and technical sciences, vocational trade, industrial, technical, health occupations, apprenticeship, or related post-secondary programs. • To provide leadership for local chapters and for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts post-secondary organization. • To provide a clearinghouse for information and activities. • To provide national recognition and prestige through an association and affiliated organizations and through an association of local chapters. • To provide a vehicle, national in scope, for organizations to work articulately with skilled and technical sciences, trade and industrial, technology, and health occupations student groups. • To develop leadership abilities through participation in educational, vocational, occupational, civic, recreational and social activities. • To foster a deep respect for the dignity of work. • To assist students in establishing realistic vocational and career goals. • To help students attain a purposeful life. • To create enthusiasm for lifelong learning. • To promote high standards in trade ethics, workmanship, scholarship and safety. • To develop the ability of students to plan together, organize and carry out worthy activities and projects through the use of the democratic process. • To foster a wholesome understanding of the functions of labor and management organizations and a recognition of their mutual interdependence. • To create among students, faculty members, members of the college or post-secondary program community, and persons in business, industry and labor a sincere interest in and esteem for trade, industrial, technical, health occupations and career-technical education. • To develop patriotism through a knowledge of our nation’s heritage and the practice of democracy. ARTICLE III - ORGANIZATION Section 1 - SkillsUSA Massachusetts, Inc., Post- Secondary Division, is an association comprised of local chapters within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts operating in accordance with a charter granted by National SkillsUSA. Section 2 - Corporate administration, fiduciary authority, legal compliance, finances, contracts, employment, and organizational policy of SkillsUSA Massachusetts, Inc. shall be vested in the SkillsUSA Massachusetts Board of Directors, subject to the Articles of Organization, corporate bylaws, applicable law, and National SkillsUSA governing documents. The Board shall consist of: • Four Vice Presidents representing the four founding committees. • Six members elected at large from the four founding committees. • A member representing the Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators (MAVA). • • A member of the State Executive Council, ex officio.
